Memo
To: Almanac Readers
From: Absent-minded Secretary
Date: May 21, 2007
Subject: National Memo Day
As it is currently National Memo Day, it has been proposed that all communication to and from the Almanac be in the form of a memo. If there are any questions regarding this change of policy, please direct them to Absent-minded Secretary via a memo.
Thank You!

Subject: Your mom
Does your mom read this blog? Because if she does, I meant her no disrespect. Really, Mrs. Secretary, I was referring to the universal Your Mom.

Subject: The shortening of your name
Does it bother you when people shorten your name to Absent? My mother-in-law's name is Judy Kay--two words but one name--and it drives her crazy when people call her Judy. And hers isn't even hyphenated like yours.

Subject: The shortening of my name & Your mom
My mom doesn't read this blog, she doesn't even know how to use Google. But I think that she would understand the universal "Your Mom;" she raised three sons.
As to the shortening of my name, I really do like it and either Absent, or AMS is fine. One of the things that I have always disliked about my real name is there is not a nickname for it. I was always jealous of the Jennifers and Katherines I have known because they had many options for their names. So, I guess this is one way I can live vicariously through my web persona.

I love that you put a comma and a period in your morse code message. ;)
